Working With Children

Important changes for all hockey club volunteers

New laws designed to reduce the likelihood of harm to children and create safer environments for all children have been introduced. (Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013)

For activities undertaken by hockey clubs and Hockey Tasmania, compliance with the Act, meaning possible registration of those people who work or volunteer in the areas of “coaching and tuition services” and “services related to clubs, associations and movements”, must be in place by 1 April 2015.

Hockey Tasmania has been working with the Department of Justice to create a sector guide for hockey. The guide will assist our clubs to understand the changes and the steps they need to take to implement the new registration requirements by 1 April 2015.
