Nominations for players for National Masters Invitational Events February – March 2022

Hockey Australia Masters Committee & Hockey Australia will be hosting National Masters Invitational Events in early 2022.

The concept and intent of the event is very simple – it is an opportunity for Masters players to return to the pitch in some state v state matches, this is not a Championship.

Hockey Australia Masters have shared the concept with State Masters Delegates around Australia and have received strong support.

These games will be a good warm up for the MENS MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS to be held on the Gold Coast Sat 24 Sep 2022 — Sun 09 Oct 2022

So where and when are the events you ask?

Men’s Masters Invitational 1

Age Groups: 34+ to 55+

Venue: Sydney Olympic Park

Dates: 25 – 27 February 2022 (3 day comp Friday – Sunday – fly up Thursday afternoon / evening)

Cost: $400/team

Men’s Masters Invitational 2

Age Groups: 60+ and above

Venue: Sydney Olympic Park

Dates: 18 – 20 March 2022 (3 days)

Cost: $400/team

We are now seeking nominations from players to form teams to play in these events.

It is not a national championship format, so teams will not be representative State teams but if there is sufficient interest teams will still be entered by Hockey Tasmania.

In the case of players who are not invited to play for a State/Territory team, or if there are insufficient numbers to form a team from Tasmania in a particular grouping, they will be able to seek clearance to other State Association teams and/or a Combined team may be entered by more than one Member Association.

Further, we are aware of conversations starting around selection for Masters World Cups in 2022. There is work being done on selection policy and reviewing the conditions required for teams to participate. Information on this will be shared when available.

This page is dedicated to the event and is where you can find the latest information on the event.

If you are interested in participating in the Invitational Tournament, please complete the Expression of Interest form.

Nominations close 8th December 2021 and should you have any queries please address them to your State Men’s Masters Delegate, Peter Gaggin
