Participation Coaching

GetintoHockey - 
Getinto Hockey is our beginner program run across the state throughout the year (2023 dates TBC): 
Hobart - Term 1,2,3 and 4. Wednesday evenings from 5-6pm 
Launceston - Terms 1 & 4. Wednesday evenings from 5-6pm 
Devonport - Term 1. Saturday Mornings from 9-10am 
Burnie - Terms 1 & 4. Saturday Mornings from 9-10am 

Free Come & Try Sessions - 
These sessions are an opportunity for players to have a taster of what the Getinto Hockey program is like with the option to sign up for the full program for the term. 
Hobart - Wed 22nd Feb 5-6pm 
Launceston - Wed 1st March 5-6pm 
Devonport - Sat 11th Feb 9-10am 
Burnie - Sat 11th Feb 9-10am 

School Holiday Clinics - 
Feb 1st 10am-12pm in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport 
Feb 2nd 10am-12pm in Burnie 
We will look to run more Holiday clinics throughout the year, dates are TBC. 

Hockey In Schools - 

Hockey Tasmania offers two free introductory sessions to schools, usually during a PE lesson, a typical class runs for 40 minutes. We encourage schools to run sessions over consecutive weeks and offer from Prep-Grade 6.  We have had a number of schools interested in running hockey sessions and are now looking for potential coaches to deliver programs around the state.
Number of classes per day will be determined by the school and will vary from 2x40min to 6x40min sessions during school hours (9-3pm).
Coaches will be provided with a session plan as a guide and supplied with equipment including hockey sticks, shin pads, cones and balls for the session. 
All coaching payments are $30 per hour and are made on a fortnightly basis. Any visitor to a school is required to have a WWVP Card which must be supplied to the office on arrival. 

Sporting School Sessions - 

Hockey Tasmania is also a Sporting Schools accredited coaching provider. Schools can apply for Sporting Schools funding from the Australian Sports Commission to cover sessions and buy equipment.
Same as above, we will supply a session plan and equipment, but the sessions are 45minutes long and Sporting Schools offer a 4 week program. 

Participation Umpiring

School Hockey - 
We run school hockey competitions throughout the year at THC and Cornelian Bay in Term 2, we supply our top notch umpires for the school teams each week. 
Term 2 - 
Cornelian Bay School Hockey is on a Saturday morning for Prep to Grade 6s 
Secondary Competitions are run during the week from 4-5pm:
Mondays: Girls Div 2A (grade 9/10)
Tuesdays: Girls Div 1 (grade 11/12) 
Wednesdays: Boys Div 2 (grade 9/10)
Thursdays: Boys Div1 (grade 11/12) 
Fridays: Girls Div 2B (grade 9/10) 
Term 3 - 
Div3 (grade 7/8) and our primary school hockey for grades 3/4 (super sixes) and 5/6 (hockey sevens) on weekdays from 4-5pm 
Term 4 -
Grade 3/4 and 5/6 weekday afternoons from 4-5pm 

All umpiring payments are $15 per game except for Div1 School Hockey which is $20 per game. Payment is made after the roster concludes (5-7weeks)
