Development Programs

Hockey Tasmania delivers two levels of continuing development throughout the year, the Junior Emerging Training Squad (JETS) and Junior Development Program (JDP) in each region. The development focus will be on essential skills with the JETS sessions for those athletes aged 10-14yrs seeking additional development, working towards State Team selection and seen as having the potential to progress to the Tigers Emerging Talent Academy (ETA) at age 14.  Junior Development Program (JDP) sessions are offered as a 1-4 week program for specific age groups (U12/U13/U15/U16/U18) to assist athletes in their preparation for state selection.  Programs run as close to trial dates as possible with state coaches.

Junior Tigers Academy Squads

The vision of the Academy is to develop the character, skills and game understanding of Tasmania’s emerging talent athletes and to launch future tigers. The Tigers Emerging Talent Academy (ETA) is for athletes between 14 and 18 years and will run for up to 40 weeks.  Athletes in the Emerging Talent Academy must be playing state junior hockey and will be considered to have the potential to progress to a TIS High Performance scholarship within a one to four year period – as assessed by Academy coaches with input from State coaches.  Selection will be reassessed each year in November.  The Academy Pathway coach reserves the right to add athlete/s throughout the year following strong performances at National Championships.

All programs held in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.
