A wrap up of last week's Trans-Tasman Masters Challenge
Last week in Christchurch was the first Trans Tasman since 2019, this is a biannual Masters competition between Australia and NZ. It was first established in 2000 with women’s age groups from 35+ to 65+ and men’s age groups from 35+ to 75+.
Australia won every age group except women’s 50+ and 55+ with every Tasmanian representative being in a successful team.
Tasmanian representatives
Men’s 35’s: Sam McCambridge, Ian McHugh results 2-4, 2-1, 3-2 (Australia 2-1)
Men’s 50’s: Brett Withington (VC) Roman Bridley results 4-1, 7-1, 2-0 (Australia 3-0)
Men’s 55’s: Peter Gaggin results 2-1, 2-5, 4-3 (Australia 2-1)
Women’s 35’s: Nicole Geeves results 1-1, 4-0, 2-3 (1-1-1 Australia won on goal difference)
Women’s 40’s: Belinda Page, Lucy Withers, Sarah Gray results 1-2, 2-1, 3-0 (Australia 2-1)
Women’s 45’s: Helen Rackham (Team Leader) results 0-1, 3-0, 6-1 (Australia 2-1)
Women’s 65’s Lynne Trustum results 1-1, 3-1, 3-1 (Australia 2-1-0)
We also had some Off field representatives: Marian Taylor (massage therapist), Darren Poon (physiotherapist).
