Changes to the Hockey Tasmania Board

From Regina Weiss:
At the Hockey Tasmania board meeting on 4 October 2022, I stepped down from my position as Chair of Hockey Tasmania. I did so with a heavy heart. It was a decision I made after deep deliberation and weighing up of priorities.
I was recently appointed to lead the Victorian Office of the Racing Integrity Commissioner Review into historical allegations of sexual and physical abuse across all three racing codes in Victoria, which in itself is incredibly important work, first and foremost for the victims by giving them a voice to be heard, but also the racing industry – and sport more broadly. The appointment was made after I took on the Chair role. In addition to the other matters I have on foot in Tasmania and Victoria, and as the mother of two young boys, I am now stretched very thin and cannot give the HT Chair role the attention it needs or deserves.
I have sat on the HT Board for about a year, and the Chair role since February 2022. Although this is a relatively short time, I cannot thank the HT community for the warm welcome they gave this relative stranger to hockey. On a personal note, it has been an absolute privilege to work with the HT Board and CEO, who have been nothing but supportive, kind and most of all – capable.
The former Deputy Chair Brett Withington will take on the HT Chair role in the interim, supported by Nic Duffy as Deputy Chair. Both are knowledgeable, veterans of hockey and a real pleasure to work with.
All the best to you all, and I look forward to watching from the sidelines with my kids when I’m in Tassie.
