Hockey Tasmania is excited to open two new full-time employment positions with the organisation and seeks applications for the roles of Operations Manager and Member Services Officer.
The Operations Manager is a high-level management position overseeing the day-to-day business and operations of the organisation.
The Member Services Officer is our front office administration, staff, and member support person.

Operations Manager
Hockey Tasmania is seeking an organised, experienced, and passionate leader to join the team as Operations Manager and take the next step in their sports administration or management career.
Role
Manage the day-to-day business and operation of Hockey Tasmania, supervise all staff, provide operational support for events, and provide direct support to the CEO for workplace management, government relations, sponsor relations, strategy, development opportunities, and additional projects.

Principal Duties
- Oversee the day-to-day business operations of Hockey Tasmania.
- Supervise, manage, and provide operational support to all Hockey Tasmania staff.
- Report to the CEO on staff and program performance.
- Provide strategic and operational advice to the CEO.
- Manage minor capital projects within budget and contribute significantly to the planning, design, and delivery of significant projects.
- Provide operational support to Hockey Tasmania’s risk and assurance sub-committee and be responsible for the planning, managing, and implementing of the organisation’s risk and emergency management planning processes and operations.
- Oversee the effective management of Hockey Tasmania’s competitions across the state by working collaboratively with the competition’s committees, clubs and officials.
- Provide operational support for all major events in Tasmania, including intrastate, national, and international tournaments.
- Provide support to the CEO in relation to Hockey Tasmania’s strategic priorities including development of organisational operational policies, management of work place health and safety, and where relevant government and corporate related initiatives, projects and relations.
Selection Requirements
The position requires a high level of business, management, interpersonal, and relationship skills and knowledge, as well as high level communication skills.
- An understanding of the business operations of a not-for-profit organisation, preferably a sporting organisation.
- High level business management and administration skills with demonstrated ability to deliver on Hockey Tasmania’s business objectives.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including an ability to engage and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective written skills tailored to meet the required audience.
- Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, club officials and volunteers,
- Operational drive and demonstrated capacity to contribute to Hockey Tasmania’s broader strategic directions and objectives.
- A sound understanding of workplace health and safety and risk management.

Member Services Officer
Hockey Tasmania is seeking a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic person to join the team as our Member Services Officer and provide quality member interactions and administrative support to our staff and clubs.
Role
This position provides administrative support to senior staff within the Hockey Tasmania Office and competitions committees, and communications support to the Marketing and Communications Officer and Hockey Tasmania stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook
- Proven ability to work independently within a small team
- High level of organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Administrative self-sufficiency with the capacity to manage work while assisting other staff as required
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to learn and become proficient in our competition management system “RevSport”
Principal Duties
- Data entry and maintenance
- Diary entry and maintenance (including managing booking sheets for facilities)
- Communicate with members and stakeholders, answering phones, responding to emails and enquiries, greeting visitors to the office
- Basic accounting, including entry of invoices into MYOB, processing payments
- Competition and roster preparation and management
- Organise or support events such as presentation nights, competitions, national championships
- Social media, website, and email marketing monitoring/management
- Organise and order office equipment re-supply
- General administrative errands upon request
