The Tasmanian Under 18 Girls have secured their first points of the tournament, holding out the Alliance team to a nil-all draw on day 3 of the Championships.
In an even match that had some dramatic swings in momentum, the large crowd was taken on an edge-of-the-seat thrill ride as the gallant Tassie Girls searched hard for their first win.
The final 10 minutes was a nailbiting affair, with a visibly exhausted Tassie team making a final push and nearly scoring the winning goal, with Emily Withington and Lucy Cooper both coming extraordinarily close to breaking the deadlock.
Meanwhile, the Under 18 Boys have lost 0-3 to the tournament favourites Victoria.
The Tassie Boys were put on the back foot conceding an early to the slick and fast Victorians, but held their own for the most part and had several excellent chances on goal either go just wide or draw strong saves from the opposition ‘keeper.
With 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss so far they go into the rest day in a strong position to push for a high finish in their pool if they secure a good result on Saturday.
